The pandemic simply moved us from offices to our homes to work remotely. Nobody realized this would make everyone think about the impact on their overall lives, leading to life-changing decisions – enter the great resignation – still happening six months into the year.
The great resignation has created the greatest opportunity for companies looking to go digital. How? Let’s see: If one can substitute a human with an smart automated process that does more, never gets tired, and is more accurate.
Replacing an employee, specially a well-qualified, hard-working and smart one is tough and expensive. We have recently gone thru the same phase, and so have our clients.
Our recommendation to our clients is – this is a great time to step back and look at this as an awesome opportunity (rather than a problem to solve) to do something they have always wanted. Their competitors are, so why not them.
Begin by looking at the process and job the employee (who left) was doing – is it something that can be digitized? Is this a piece of work that can be done by automation? Maybe this employee was processing submissions at a good pace – easily replaced by a bot. Maybe this employee was entering quotes on carrier websites – easily digitized. Downloading quotes and bound policies from the same websites ? Yes.. simple to install an RPA process. Answering questions from clients – can be done by a chatbot. An underwriting assistant left to find himself – sure.. get a digital underwriter called Junior (I jest!).
You get my point. Start small. Maybe digitizing a form intake, or automating downloading of forms, or simply sending an email when a task is complete. Start small but start somewhere.
